Continuous kernel krashes on SBC4 (Minutes after boot)

Post by theque42 »

Hi folks,

I'm a complete n00b when it comes to phidgets, and now that I started playing with an SBC4, I am getting kernel crashes continuously, making my progress somewhat useless :-/

I've added kern.log, and some screenshots on:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rk8gro8acdlh ... YVoI2pBLCa

In the beginning I though there were conflicts/issues with the USB wifi stick, but I've gotten crashes without that as well.

I am running:
root@phidgetsbc:~# uname -a
Linux phidgetsbc 4.9.35 #2 SMP Mon Jul 17 11:51:28 MDT 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

But I cant tell if this is the latest, since the changelog doesnt indicate if kernel was updated in later releases?

Any help will be appreciated!

Best Regards

Ok, so downloaded the latest firmware image and started over with all my system configuration and prepping.
Everything worked fine as long as I was using wired connection.

Then, pulling the plug and addiing the wifi-usb adaptor, new kernel crashes once again start appearing.

This is kind of annoying....if the hardware is so untested that you cant run for more than a minute with

out core-dump :-(

You are seeing the problems only when USB WiFi is plugged in? Which USB WiFi dongle are you using? What else if anything is plugged into the SBC? We have definitely never seen issues like this during testing.

It looks to me like you may have bad RAM, I would consider contacting support@phidgets.com for a replacement.

Yesterday, I started getting these crashes without the USB wifi attached.

I have 3 cables connected to the 25Amp current sensors, and the humidity/temp + a separate temp phidget as well.

Yesterdays crashes. I can work for maybe fifteen minutes or so, before crash.

This really looks like a hardware failure, you should contact support@phidgets.com for a replacement.
