Hello,
I recently discovered the SimpleFOC project (https://simplefoc.com), which provides an open-source Field Oriented Control (FOC) library for BLDC and stepper motors, along with compatible driver boards. The project supports gimbal motors explicitly.
https://simplefoc.com/#simplefoc_shiled
One of their offerings is SimpleFOCMini v1.1, a compact driver tailored for gimbal motors (up to ~3 A) and optimized for use with the SimpleFOC library. Their documentation notes that this board is intended for gimbals with internal resistance greater than ~10 Ω.
My question is: Could one of the existing Phidget BLDC motor controllers drive a gimbal motor, perhaps using SimpleFOC or a similar FOC strategy?
Thanks,
Panayiotis
