Phidgets not recognized by control panel

Post by keith@holtfamily.org »

I have two different Phidget hubs. One is a simple 1-port USB stick (HUB0007_0), and the other a 6-port hub (HUB0002_0). Neither of these is recognized by Windows 11 when plugged into the computer. It is obviously not a cable issue because one is a USB stick that requires no cable.

In the Windows Device Manager, no Phidget USB devices are shown. The operating system is simply not recognizing that new hardware has been attached.

The devices are being attached directly to the computer with no hub.

I am running Windows 11 with all current updates, on a brand new AMD 9950X3D CPU on a Gigabyte 870E motherboard. I have no other problems with the many USB devices I have connected to this computer.

As it is, I will return these for a refund in a few days because this seems like a complete non-starter. My impression is that these devices either aren't compatible with Windows 11 or my 870E motherboard or both.

Phidgets are Windows 11 compatible. I know you mentioned the control panel in the post title, but just to be sure- have you installed the Phidget Drivers for Windows? Phidgets don't auto-install drivers like some USB devices do.

In the device manager, those hubs should show up in the "Universal Serial Bus devices" section (while older Phidgets usually show up in "Human Interface Devices").

Another thing to check if this is a brand new PC, is to plug a known working USB device into those ports to confirm there isn't a problem with the ports. I can't think of any reason the motherboard would be to blame.
