Controlpanel Steps 360°

Hey, guys,

my name is Peter and I have no idea what I'm doing. I bought the PhidgetStepper Bipolar HC (module) and 28STH32 NEMA-11 Bipolar Stepper with 100:1 gearbox (motor).

I have many questions about the Control Panel. First the engine rotates, yeahh.

Position step control:
I can set the acceleration to 10 000 000 000.
and speed limit to 250,000.
What is the acceleration in m/s² and the Velecity limit in m/s?

What range can I use to have native motor steps (I think 200)?
How many steps are 360°?
The gearbox is 1:100, so after a motor circuit the gear out 3.6° is correct?

Speed control:
How do I get to m/s?
What happens at 0-4 amps?

For the motor you have, you can calculate step angle as follows:

- The base step angle of the motor is 1.8°
- The exact gearbox ratio is 99 1044/2057 : 1 (from spec table)
- The 1067 measures position in 1/16th steps (microsteps)

Which results in 318424.1128 microsteps per rotation. So if you tell this motor to go to position 318424, it should make one complete rotation.

How do I get to m/s?
Velocity limit is in microsteps/s and acceleration is in microsteps/s². You can use a method similar to above to convert to RPM. In order to convert into m/s you'd need to know the diameter of the wheel being used.

Current limit will affect how much torque your motor has. If you want full performance out of your motor, we recommend you set it to the motor's rated current value. In this case, the motor is rated for 670mA.
