STC1002 running without setTargetPosition

so i got this code:

My stepper motor moves upward until the digital input is set to 0, indicating it has reached its maximum height. Then, it moves downward until the other digital input is set to 0, indicating it has reached its lowest position, and then it stops. The digital inputs are buttons that are pressed when the stepper motor reaches its maximum or minimum position.

The problem is that the stepper motor moves in small increments of 10,000 steps. How can I make it move smoothly and consistently without these small increments?

currently using 'mot4.setControlMode(1)' which works, but I can't let it go in the other direction. Any ideas how to make it run in the other direction :?:
