Using Netatalk with SBC4

I use a Mac for my development work and like to connect to remote servers with netatalk so the server appears in my Mac finder. Makes file transfer easy.
I can connect to my SBC4 from the Mac using ssh and web interface, but I cannot establish a connection from within finder. Reports incorrect password. I am trying to connect as root@192.168.0.55 and then my usual ssh password. I have set up netatalk to /home on the SBC4, in the same way I have with Raspberry Pis.
Any ideas was to what is wrong?
