Phidgets DAQ1301_0 deattaching/reattaching

Post by arnevv »

I have a project where we use 6x Phidgets DAQ1301_0 to read out 84 buttons.
I connected a 12V 4.2A power supply to detect the inputs.
All 6x Phidgets DAQ1301_0 are connected to 1 VINT hub.
The VINT hub is connected with a powered usb hub.

When some of the buttons is pressed the Phidgets board deattached and reattached.

I cannot find the cause why this is happening.
Is there a limit of DAQ1301_0 that I can attach to 1 VINT hub ?
Or is there not enough USB power available ?

Is it consistently the same buttons that cause the detaches? If there's a wiring issue that's causing a short from power to ground, it could cause a detach. As you said, it could also be a power issue. If you have a multimeter, you can take the VINT Hub out of its enclosure and measure the voltage between the USB power and USB ground. If it dips below 4 volts when the detach happens, it's almost certainly a power issue.

You can also enable logging, which will often provide a reason for the detach.

Is the USB hub and the buttons powered by the same supply? Sounds like USB voltage is being browned out, but this should not happen since the DAQ1301 is isolated.

I use now 2 VINT hubs connected to a PC.
I see no deattaching anymore.
