Hello,

I'd like some help on the electrical connection (power, not vint) between a DC power source (+30VDC, GND), a SAF1000 (Output, GND, Input 0-30VDC), a DCC1100 (GND, input 8-30VDC, A, B, C), and a BLDC (A, B, C).

From what I've read on the internet (including phidgets' youtube video about the power guards usage), I think it is simply (with the GND connector on the SAF hosting both power source and DCC, hence double below) :
power source (+30VDC, GND) -> (8-30VDC, GND) SAF (Output, GND) -> (GND, input 8-30VDC) DCC (A, B, C) -> (A, B, C) BLDC.
But I don want the controller to die from power surge either.
So is that right?

Your connections will look something like this:

The SAF1000 will not only prevent surges from reaching your power supply, but will also fight to dissipate excess power on the OUT terminal to keep the voltage on that terminal at or below your target voltage set in software, protecting your motor controller as well.

I marked the topic as solved and thank you very much for your clear explanation, but actually I have one more think to ask: I want to power a wifi vint hub (the HUB5000) too. Shall I connect it to the SAF too?

No problem!

As to your second question, I would recommend powering the WIFI hub from the power supply directly.

There is no need to put it on the output of the SAF1000, and connecting it directly to the power supply will ensure it always has power.

The SAF1000 must be engaged in software before power is applied to the output. If you power the hub from the output terminal of the SAF1000, your program would need to engage the SAF1000 before the WIFI hub could be powered on and accessed. This may lead to a number of unwanted behaviours, including not being able to engage the SAF1000 in the first place, assuming you intend to control it with the WIFI Hub.

Thank you very much! The Phidget control panel in windows led me to believe when powering up the SAF had a 10V output (and I only wondered about the 10V to 30V ramp). Nice to get the information.
The other point is that my power source is chinese one and I don't know the tolerance on tension output (and I'm more than flirting with the max tension, powering everything at 30V), but no choice then!
