Temperature Sensor delay after re-attaching

Post by gusdsnail »

I have the 1048 and the 1051 TemperatureSensors but I noticed something a little strange. I am able to read from the temperature sensors without a problem.

However, when I physically detach the sensors and then reattach. The reading taken immediately after the attached event produces very low numbers roughly between 0-2 degrees. There is no error being returned from the call.

I also have the IR TemperatureSensor and it doesn't have this same problem.

Retrieving the correct temperature takes approximately 500ms. After that everything is back to normal. Is this delay with getting a correct reading after detaching and re-attaching the correct behaviour?

Or is it an issue with thermocouples in general (I've tested with a few different ones)

I'm guessing all the probes I have are ungrounded therefore the 500ms delay is the expected behaviour when the phidget is attached.

I'm going to get myself an grounded probe to confirm. Can anyone else confirm if this is the correct/expected behaviour.
