RFID tag embedded in wristwatch

Hi there; I'm very new to RFID technology.

I've extracted an RFID tag from its case to its bare antenna and chip, and have sealed it in vinyl, so that I can embed it inside my wristwatch. However it's not working (it works outside of the watch). Is the wristwatch's battery to blame? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Metal can interfere with communication between an RFID tag and a reader. If your watch has a metal backplate, it's probably to blame. We do sell RFID tags designed to be mounted on a metal surface, but I'm not certain they will work if surrounded by metal entirely.
